Mike Pero Racing’s Greg Murphy has retained his lead in the BNT V8 SuperTourers after Round 2 at Ruapuna.

Despite an unfortunate retirement in today's final race, Murphy accumulated solid points with podium finishes in the other two heats.

From fifth on the grid, the four-time Bathurst 1000 winner improved to second in Race 1 behind Daniel Gaunt.

“I thought I was lucky to finish second,” Murphy said.

Greg Murphy has driven his Mike Pero Racing Holden Commodore VE Series II to three wins from three races in the first round of the BNT V8 SuperTourers at Hampton Downs today.

Although he struggled with car setup throughout Friday and Saturday practice, Murphy was immediately on the pace in qualifying, thanks to some overnight adjustments based on feedback from his team mates, Richard Moore and Paul Manuell.

Jack Perkins and Nick Cassidy have finished the 5th round of the V8 Super-Tourer Championship at Taupo yesterday equal first on points after first and second place finishes in the Mike Pero Racing Commodore.
